Emissions systems

DPF & Aftertreatment Service

A truck that regens constantly is not telling you the filter is full. It is telling you something upstream is putting soot into it faster than it should.

The work

Aftertreatment work we do on site

Aftertreatment is where the most expensive misdiagnoses in the industry happen, because the symptom and the cause are usually in different places. A filter that loads up every few hours gets cleaned or replaced, the fleet pays for it, and four weeks later the truck is doing it again — because the real fault was an injector dribbling fuel, a leaking EGR cooler, a turbo not making boost, or a differential pressure sensor reading a blockage that was never there.

We treat a regen complaint as a diagnostic job first and a filter job second. That order is the difference between fixing it once and paying for the same filter twice a year.

  • Forced and stationary regeneration
  • Persistent and frequent-regen fault diagnosis
  • DPF differential-pressure sensor and line faults
  • DEF system, dosing and quality-sensor faults
  • SCR and NOx sensor diagnosis
  • EGR valve and cooler faults driving soot loading
  • Emissions-related derate diagnosis and clearing
  • Wiring and connector repair behind recurring codes

When to call

Signs the problem is upstream, not the filter

  • Regens far more frequent than the duty cycle explains
  • A filter that was cleaned or replaced recently and is loading again
  • DEF consumption noticeably up or down
  • Derate returning shortly after a code clear
  • Visible smoke alongside emissions codes

Coverage

Engines and makes

Cummins and Detroit Diesel, including Cummins LNG and CNG alternative-fuel systems, across Freightliner, International, Isuzu, Hino, Autocar.

Recurring regens are usually a symptom of something upstream rather than a filter that simply needs cleaning. We find the upstream cause first — and if the filter genuinely is the problem, you will know that on evidence rather than assumption.

Straight answers

DPF & Aftertreatment questions

Can you do a forced regen at our yard?

Yes. Our units carry the equipment and the OEM software to command a stationary regen on site. If the truck will not complete one, that failure is itself diagnostic information and we work from there.

Our filter keeps loading up. Do we need a new one?

Possibly, but that is the last question rather than the first. Rapid loading is usually driven by something putting excess soot in — injectors, EGR, turbo or boost-side leaks. Replacing the filter without finding that cause means buying the same part again.

Do you delete or bypass emissions systems?

No. Tampering with emissions equipment is illegal, and in California it also guarantees a Clean Truck Check failure and a blocked registration. We repair these systems so they work.
